The Saudi Minister of Labor His Excellency Ghazi Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Qusaibi, handed over the certificate of merit to Omantel Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mohammed Bin Ali Al-Wohaibi at the sidelines of the meetings of the Council of Ministers of Labor and Social Affairs of the GCC member states.
This honour is an appreciation of Omantel's unique and distinguished efforts which culminated in the realization of high percentages in terms of providing job opportunities for Omanis and in the Omanization of telecom sector at the GCC level.
Omanization percentage in Oman Telecommunications Company is among the highest at the level of private sector companies in the Sultanate as well as all GCC states. The percentage of national cadres reached 93% of the total workforce of the company. Opanization has been one of the main elements of the company policy over the past period and will remain the same in the future.
Women, in this respect, occupy a good position in the Omanization policy as they now represent around 18% of the total workers in the company. This is part of the company's efforts and the keenness of its top officials to make women a partner in development, especially in the telecom sector.
The rise of Omanization rate in Oman Telecommunications Company is the result of strenuous efforts exerted by the company during the recent years to employ qualified human resources in support of the telecom sector in the Sultanate.
Furthermore, Omantel possesses a specialized training center whose main aim is to qualify Omani youth in telecommunications technology and supply the labor market with its requirements of trained staff.
This honor reflects the appreciation and the esteem of Omantel at the Gulf States level and its leading role among telecom companies in the region.
