- United Arab Emirates: Monday, November 19 - 2007 at 14:55
- PRESS RELEASE
Silverjet, the British luxury airline, touched down this morning at the Executive Terminal of Dubai International Airport, marking the first time a commercial carrier has been granted access to the airports private aviation facilities and the first airline of its kind to fly to the Emirate.
"This service marks the beginning of a new era in international business aviation and bodes well for the burgeoning executive flight sector of the Middle East in general and Dubai in particular," said Ghannam.
"The launch of this service between Dubai and London makes Silverjet the 120th airline to come to Dubai International; yet the exclusivity of the service also makes it the first airline of its kind to serve Dubai International," he added.
The multi award-winning airline is the only scheduled airline in the world to offer a private terminal experience at both ends of its service and is the only commercial carrier to use the private Executive Terminal at Dubai International Airport.
"To be operating to Dubai is superb, but to be landing at the Executive Terminal of Dubai International Airport is truly 'sivilised'," said Lawrence Hunt, Founder and CEO of Silverjet.
"Silverjet aims to offer its customers the luxury and convenience of a private jet without the need to own one and to create an experience that takes all the stress out of flying. We are thrilled to be bringing the unique Silverjet experience to the region and look forward to welcoming customers on board," added Hunt.
Upon entering the Executive Terminal, the Silverjet delegation was received by a traditional welcome of dates and rosewater before a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark its inaugural flight to London.
With Executive Terminal check-in required just 30 minutes prior to departure; Silverjet customers can avoid queues and enjoy a range of personalized concierge services upon arrival, followed by a luxurious in-flight experience that takes them to their destination in comfort and style.
Silverjet - which began its operations on 25 January 2007 and aims to offer its customers a private jet style experience - already offers a twice-daily service between London Luton Airport and New York Newark Airport.
Silverjet flights depart Dubai daily at 1030 and arrive in London at 1445. Return flights depart from London at 2100 and arrive in Dubai at 0830.
Well-timed connecting flights on Silverjet to New York Newark are also available, departing London Luton Airport at 1645, meaning passengers have only a two-hour connection.
