During the prize giving ceremony, Ahmed Mahmoud, Senior Manager Public Relation, Etisalat, said:
"Etisalat consistently participates in various national and social activities. We believe it is important to support the country's social initiatives especially those dedicated to help growing the knowledge of students. Etisalat's presence here today is to acknowledge and honor the winning students."
He added: "Etisalat is fully aware of the important role that education plays in building our community. This is why we support this sector by sponsoring student initiatives and by offering education and training opportunities through Etisalat University College and Etisalat Academy. This is to ensure suitable preparation and training for candidates in the UAE. Etisalat also provides 65 training opportunities for national employees every year and 100 training opportunities during the summer."
Nadia Fawaz, Head of Excursions, Ministry of Education, said: "We thank Etisalat and value their continuous participation in the education school trips programmes. Etisalat greets students at satellite earth stations in the country and educates them about communication tools, and also sponsors the competition programme that helps save time and efforts of people."
Etisalat is recognized as one of the companies that have supported and sponsored activities in the country. Etisalat has received several awards for its corporate social responsibility initiatives including an award received last year from Arabian Business magazine and also an award in October 2007 from the CEO Middle East Awards.
Etisalat recently pledged Dhs25m to Dubai Cares, the campaign to provide education to needy children around the world and also donated Dhs25m to Emirates Foundation to support its goal of achieving social welfare and sustainable development across the UAE.
