His Highness Prince Faisal lays foundation stone for Tameer's Madinet Al Majd

Representing His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, His Highness Prince Faisal laid recently the foundation stone for 'Madinet Al Majd' project, which was launched by Tameer in Jordan in cooperation with the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDC).

The event commemorates the start of the construction of the first phase of the $350m project.

Receiving His Highness upon arrival was His Excellency Eng. Hosni Abu Gheida, Minister of Public Works and Housing (MoPWH), His Excellency Eng. Shehadah Abu Hdaib, General Manager for HUDC, Mr. Omar Ayesh, President of Tameer, His Excellency Zarqa Governor Ahmad Shayyab and Eng. Mohammed Habib, General Manager of Tameer in Jordan.

In his opening speech, Mr. Omar Ayesh, President of Tameer, stressed on the importance of the project which embodies the vision of His Majesty to give every Jordanian family the opportunity to acquire adequate housing. Ayesh went on to highlight the current fast pace of the real estate sector in Jordan which has witnessed significant growth and investment through a wide range of pioneering projects.

"Madinat Al Majd", the first and largest community being developed for the limited income society, will be a significant architectural landmark in Jordan. With its 18,500 residential units in an area of 2 million sqm, "Madinat Al Majd" is being developed to provide the wider community the chance to own homes in a healthy environment for a monthly payment similar to what they would pay in rental costs. "Madinet Al Majd", enjoying ideal typography with natural lighting and ventilation system, includes essential elements to ensure the development is fully sustainable and can accommodate the developing needs of Jordanians such as schools, medical centers, community and cultural centers, and shopping centers.

Ayesh went on to emphasize that "Madinet Al Majd" project is the result of the cooperation between the public and private sectors to achieve public interest, saying "This leading project would not have been implemented without the cooperation, distinctive support, and constant consolidation that the Government of Jordan has provided us with at all times, and I would like to stress my deep gratitude to His Excellency Eng. Hosni Abu Gheida, Minister of Public Works and Housing and His Excellency Eng. Shehadah Abu Hdaib, General Manager for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, for their continuous commitment in enabling the success of this project."

For his part, His Excellency Eng. Shehadah Abu Hdaib, General Manager for HUDC, underlined the partnership with the private sector praising His Majesty's role and good deeds that helped many people and wiped their sadness by brining joy to their lives through a number of projects that HUDC implemented starting with donating the lands of the treasury to HUDC and equipping it with the needed infrastructure. He also highlighted Tameer's role in providing the Jordanian citizens, especially the limited income segment, with adequate housing stressing that "Madinet Al Majd", which is being developed in cooperation between Tameer and HUDC, will be the beginning of a series of residential cities across the Kingdom.

Whilst formally overseeing the laying of the foundation stone, His Highness received a briefing from Mr. Ayesh about the progress being made on "Madinet Al Majd" and its capacity, the various construction phases and the range of amenities that will be constructed according to Tameer's international standards.

The ceremony was concluded with a press conference attended by a number of local, regional and international media, in which a number of facts related to "Madinet Al Majd" were announced, such as its capacity to accommodate 50,000 inhabitants and its unique location on the main highway leading to Zarqa City, some 5km from Zarqa City and 25km from the capital Amman. The new City is being developed close to all public services and governmental centers and both the Hashemite and Private Zarqa universities.

The official launch of "Madinat Al Majd" is the latest addition to Tameer's long list of projects, which include the "Princess Tower", tallest residential tower in the world, and "Al Salam City" in UAE, a community that will house more than 350,000 people, and "Madinat Al Hana's", the largest property development project in North Africa.
