Under the agreement, BT will deploy its first global voice gateway outside of Europe. This will allow other service providers throughout the Middle East region the ability to switch calls, without the need to pass through the major international hubs in Europe, the USA and Asia, ensuring the highest degree of service quality. It will not only provide inter-regional voice services, but moreover through BT's global network, it will provide access to 650 other service providers worldwide, including more than 100 dedicated mobile operators.

"This agreement is part of a strategic relationship between Nuetel Communications and BT covering technical consultancy and services development, joint marketing and the resale of BT's worldwide services" stated Mr. Jameel Al Matrook, MD of Ossis, the holding company of Nuetel Communications.

Karsten Lereuth, President Global Telecom Markets, BT Global Services, said: "BT is glad to be able to support Nuetel's growth strategy with this agreement. It is based on BT's 21st century network (21CN) Operator Services. This is a new range of innovative services and solutions designed to ensure communication providers can transform towards full IP next-generation networks."

"I very much welcome this investment by BT in Bahrain and their strategic relationship with Nuetel. The initiative in establishing the telecommunications node in Bahrain and providing competitive wholesale connectivity to the UK, to operators throughout the region, reflects the Kingdom's positive steps in providing a clear regulatory regime as well as investor friendly commercial environment." Said Alan Horne, General Director, TRA
