Samsung develops Mobile Tracker to recover lost phones
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, November 25 - 2007 at 12:34
- PRESS RELEASE
Samsung announced that it has developed a Mobile Tracker that will make it easier to recover lost phones.
Even more, the system might also prove useful in the case of stolen mobile phones, and not only of the lost ones. This is ensured by the technology that Mobile Tracker uses. Every time a new SIM card is inserted in the mobile phone, two pre-selected phone numbers automatically receive a prompt informing on the contact number of the new user. Interesting enough, this process takes place without the knowledge of the new user of the handset
Consumers have recently reported live success stories of the mobile tracker. During the Mobile Road Show 2007, two of Samsung's mobile phones were reported missing and the same was traced and recovered through the Mobile Tracker feature in it.
"As soon as the new SIM cards were inserted in the lost phones, an SMS message was sent to one of our predefined number here indicating the identity and location of the phones and thereby we could reach the illegal user," explained Sonny Peter, Marketing Manager of Eros Group in the UAE.
Elaborating the security features of Samsung mobile phone; Steve Han, general manager of the hand-held phones division at Samsung Gulf Electronics commented: "With the rapid growth of mobile phone usage in the country, concerns regarding safety and security of handsets and data are on the rise. We at Samsung have always focused on bringing forth the best of value-added services for our customers. Through launching our wide range of phones with advanced features, we are continuously addressing issues of mobile security."
