Bahrain Air to fly soon

Bahrain Air, the first privately owned low priced airline in Bahrain, announced that its flights will be open for bookings on 16 December, 2007.

Passengers can book their flights to Dubai, Beirut, Mashhad and Alexandria through Bahrain Air Web Booking Engine, Bahrain Air Call Centre or through appointed travel agents.

The announcement was made at the Bahrain Air press conference which was held at the Movenpick Hotel and chaired by Shaikh Mohamed Bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Chairman of Bahrain Air and attended by Ibrahim Al Hamer, the managing Director and other members of the Board of Directors, Mr Faisal Hassan Jawad and Mr Ali Mohamed Al Musallam and other senior management of Bahrain Air.

The press Conference was widely attended by local and regional media Journalist and reporters.

Shaikh Mohamed Bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Chairman of Bahrain Air, welcomed the guests and officially announced the launch of Bahrain Air as the second National Carrier of the Kingdom.

Thereafter Mr. Mohamed Saleh Fakhri the Director of Commercial Operations of Bahrain Air, made a detailed presentation to the press introducing Bahrain Air as the first Low Priced Airline, designated as the second National Carrier, for the Kingdom of Bahrain

Bahrain Air will use a fleet of all modern Airbus A320 aircraft and has ambitious plans to expand its operation within GCC, Middle East, Africa and the Indian Sub Continent regions.

The airline will create new job opportunities in the market for young and ambitious Bahrainis who wish to take the challenge in serving their country in the commercial aviation field.

Bahrain Air will initially operate to Dubai, Mashhad, Beirut, and Alexandria and will continue to expand until it fully covers the GCC, Middle East, Africa and the Indian Sub Continent regions. The airline also aims to promote Bahrain International Airport as a major hub in the region and contribute in promoting tourism to Bahrain.

Bahrain Air will offer on all its routes a two class service, Business and Economy and will offer its premium class passengers complementary snacks and refreshments and invitations to Business Class Lounges at all departure airports. All Bahrain Air premium class passengers will be automatically enrolled in the Airlines' Frequent Flyer Program

Bahrain Air, the first privately owned Premium Low Priced Carrier (LPC), which will start operations on 17 January 2008 using modern Airbus "A320" fleet, will initially fly on Bahrain, Dubai, Mashhad, Beirut and Alexandria routes.

The airline aims to play a major role in linking Bahrain, the financial centre of the Middle East, by providing economical and fast Point to Point air service, to the business community and contribute in promoting the service and financial sectors. It further aims to expand the airline as a major Premium Low Priced Carrier in the region and to promote, side by side, Bahrain International Airport as a major Hub in the region.

Bahrain Air is proud to announce itself as a competitive Premium Low Priced Airline and provide its customers with the highest levels of service and reliability.

All premium class passengers will be automatically enrolled in the Airlines' Frequent Flyer Program.

The economy class passengers will also have the opportunity while flying comfortably and more frequently on its services, at affordable prices.

Shaikh Mohamed Bin Abdulla Al Khalifa The Chairman

Shaikh Mohamed Bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, after finishing High School in Bahrain joined the School of Navigation in Warsash in Southampton (Merchant Navy School) . Following that he attended Mons (Officer Cadet School) in England and was commissioned as Lt. In February 1972. He then worked in Bahrain Defence Force in various fields mostly in the Air Defence Force.

General Shaikh Mohamed before retiring in 2004 held the post as Chief of Staff after spending 34 years of service with the Bahrain Armed Force, during which he was awarded several Medals during his career.

Ibrahim Abdulla ALHAMER Managing Director

Mr. AlHamer is an Aviation Professional with varying interests and business wisdom. He is an experienced Chairman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer with well-proven commercial, operational, and people management, and in the public and private sector.

Mr. AlHamer is skilled in developing department budgets and creating objectives, the experience which he acquired when he worked in several governmental posts including the position as the Assistant Undersecretary for Financial Planning and Budgeting under the Ministry of Finance and National Economy in the Government of Bahrain.

Mr. AlHamer is currently the Chairman of Rizon Jet, an Executive Air Charter Company prior to becoming the Managing Director of Bahrain Air.

He has an extensive aviation experience in the operations and regulatory discipline by virtue of holding formally the position of the Chief Executive Officer at Gulf Air and Bahrain Department of Civil Aviation as the Undersecretary for the Civil Aviation affairs for combined experience of more than 12 years. From then on, he moved with his career to become an active member of Air Arabia as founding committee member and was instrumental in setting up the business plan and the model for the first Low Cost Carrier in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). He was deeply involved with the start-up of the company in 2003 and administered operational programs in compliance with the aeronautical regulatory authority standards, performance and auditing requirements.

Mr. AlHamer remained in the Board of Directors of the airline from inception until it was offered to the Public in one of the most successful IPO operations in the aviation industry in MENA region.

Mr. AlHamer has served as Chairman and Member of the Board of several companies in Bahrain, Oman, UAE and Canada where he is currently serving as a Board member with Star navigation Systems based in Toronto.

Mr. AlHamer holds a Post Graduate Qualification and Masters degree in National Accounting and in Public Administration. He also holds an airline Pilot flying licenses from USA, Oman, Qatar and UAE and qualified Line and Simulator Training Captain on the Airbus A320.
