W shaped building in West Bay for W Hotel

Scheduled to open for business in mid 2008, the building of the W Doha is receiving finishing touches as it stands proud in Qatar's business district.
"The W Doha is right in the heart of the commercial and financial hub of the city," said Mr. Safak Guvenc, General Manager of the W Doha Hotel & Residences, "Furthermore, it is only minutes from Doha International Airport."
Featuring 291 W guest rooms & suites and 156 W fully serviced residences, the uniquely fashioned building of the W Doha will tower 29 stories over its surroundings in understated elegance.
"The building will actually add to the skyline as seen from a distance," explained Mr. Guvenc; "and if you look carefully, you'll notice that the building itself has been shaped like a W," he added with a touch of amusement.
Born of the insight that "there are customers who seek a balance between style and substance", the W brand is popular - particularly in North America for its high-energy interiors, lifestyle driven design and abundant use of technology. Starwood, its parent company, has ventured out with the W brand in recent years with considerable success, opening international branches in countries as diverse as Canada, Mexico, South Korea and the Maldives. Doha will get the first W in the Middle East, followed by two in Dubai that are under construction.
"The W brand caters specifically for the tastes of the young at heart across the world," shared Mr. Guvenc; "however, the W Doha will be distinctively different from the W properties in North America. We are out not only to bring the W to Qatar, but also to bring Qatar to the W. Design, services and ambiance at the W Doha will all be distinctly influenced by local culture and tastes, and will be an integral part of the W EXPERIENCE."
In addition to the standard conveniences that hotels offer, Starwood has announced that in line with all their W properties, the W Doha will also treat guests to interactive TV systems, home cinemas in the suites, a voicemail service, digital safe deposits, WIFI....
According to Mr. Guvenc, "The icing on the cake will be W's trademark WHATEVER/WHENEVER® service - a concierge that will arrange for whatever a guest requests - from his favourite cigar to a chartered sailboat - whenever he requests it, as long as it's legal."
Guests will be spoilt for choice with ways to spend their time, choosing between the fully equipped SWEAT® gym, the signature BLISS® spa or the temperature controlled WET® pool with its adjoining WET bar. Two concept restaurants, the Market and the Spice Market, along with Smoke and La Maison du Caviar will pamper guests' palates with local and international cuisines throughout the day. The Living Room Thasos Café , and the Crystal lounge will serve up an array of delicious cocktails.
When it comes to meetings and events, the W will have almost 1,000 square metres of dedicated space designed to host business and social gatherings of various sizes up to 500 people. Plasma screens and state of the art audio equipment will be available as well for use at the click of a button all supported by WIRED, W's dedicated business centre, making W Doha a WOW destination for the business traveler.
