Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. ('Huawei'), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, announced today that it has been selected by Mobily, a leading mobile operator in Saudi Arabia, to construct its nationwide IP bearer network for voice and data services, which will provide subscribers with faster, richer and more reliable 3G mobile services.

Mobily will deploy Huawei's core routers NetEngine 5000E ("NE5000E") and NetEngine 40E ("NE40E"), and network management systems iManager N2000 DMS and NSM, in its national network to support Mobily's NGN/3G service.

Built on state-of-the-art Terabit Switching Routers (TSR), this carrier class IP network ensures high availability with millisecond-level switch-over time for end-to-end traffic protection. The solution also enables delivery of an even wider array of innovative new subscriber services while paving the way for Mobily to evolve towards an All-IP network environment.

"Mobily is confident that with Huawei as a key partner we can further build and optimize our 3G network and ensure a smooth transition to an ALL-IP Network," said Abdulaziz Al Tamami, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Mobily. Our partnership with Huawei goes back to early 2006 when we cooperated on 3G and GSM. For this current project, we have again chosen Huawei because of its innovative solutions and services and its understanding of our needs as a customer."

"The key to operator's future successes is to transform their existing telecom networks into more adaptable, cost-efficient ALL-IP networks that gives them access to a multitude of exciting services anytime and anywhere," commented Wang Jiading, Head of Huawei Regional Division for Middle East. "ALL-IP is rapidly becoming a trend in the telecom industry and we are delighted to be working with Mobily in this area, particularly as it enhances the services received by Mobily's subscribers in Saudi Arabia."
