A total of 44 flights will be operated between Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia. Mohammed Al Katheeri, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) said Terminal 1A had been devoted for the exclusive service of pilgrims.

In a gesture reflecting the traditional Arabian hospitality, a tent will be installed at the terminal entrance where pilgrims will be greeted with complimentary drinks.

Al Katheeri said Hajj contractors had been provided with 5,000 copies of brochures containing guidelines on the recent security measures adopted at the Airport, which limit the amount of liquids, aerosols, and gels carried as part of handheld baggage. "This will give pilgrims ample time to get acquainted and comply with the new rules well ahead of departure," he added.

Arrangements have also been made with the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Awqaf whereby religious preachers will be at hand round the clock to provide religious guidance to the pilgrims before proceeding to the holy shrines. Complimentary brochures will be distributed to pilgrims as well.

Upon return, pilgrims will be accorded a special treatment. They will be invited to a special tent installed in Terminal 1 where complimentary drinks will be served. Also, a special point will be allocated for pick up of their Zamzam water.

Al Katheeri reiterated ADAC's commitment to providing superb service to all passengers commensurate with Abu Dhabi International Airport's image as one of the most passenger-friendly airports in the world.
