ECSSR to participate in Sharjah World Book Fair

The Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) is to participate in the 26th Sharjah World Book Fair, due to be held under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

The Fair, organized annually by the Department of Culture and Information of the Government of Sharjah, will take place from the 5th to the 14th of December 2007.

In total, 565 ECSSR publications in both Arabic and English will be exhibited at the fair. Among the books on display will be original and translated titles by reputed authors from the Arab world and beyond. Among the more recent publications is the Arabic version of the book Gulf Oil and Gas: Ensuring Economic Security which focuses on vital energy security issues, including the future demand for Gulf energy; prospects for increased Gulf production; concerns over oilfield security; imperatives for oil industry investment; the need for augmented oil refining capacity; globalization of the gas trade and future trends in crude quality.

Another recent ECSSR book, published in English, is entitled The Petroleum Experience of Abu Dhabi and discusses the legal framework governing the development of petroleum resources in Abu Dhabi, the tax system applicable to operating companies, dispute resolution related to oil agreements, and the overall organizational structure of the industry, providing an ideal case study for interested readers, experts and students of the petroleum industry. A second recent ECSSR title in English is France and the Arabian Gulf, which explores: French foreign policy regarding the GCC; the role of France in the management of various Middle East conflicts; French security policy in the Arabian Gulf; French perspectives on current EU-GCC relations; and the history and ongoing development of cultural relations between France and the Arab Gulf States.

Other ECSSR publications include a range of scholarly, refereed studies in Arabic and English which explore and analyze various strategic, political, economic and social issues relevant to the United Arab Emirates and other GCC countries, matters related to the Arab world in general, and the most important regional and global developments. These publications attract widespread interest from intellectuals, scholars and professional researchers worldwide and enjoy a broad domestic, pan-Arab and global readership.
