Sheikh Saud presents RAK Award for Creativity and Excellence

The annual RAK Award for Creativity and Excellence has been instituted by the Government of RAK to promote and honour excellence in education.

Delivering his keynote address at the function, Sheikh Saud exhorted the students to pursue excellence in all their endeavours to secure a bright future for themselves and the country as a whole. "Excellence is one thing that can never be bought, but can be attained only through hard work and perseverance. You should all be steadfast in your pursuit of excellence because once we gain excellence, we gain the future," Sheikh Saud said.

He also urged the young generation to equip themselves with knowledge and skills needed to take the developmental march of the country forward. Sheikh Saud congratulated the students who had made excellent academic achievements and the winners in other categories who had made remarkable contributions for achieving excellence in the education sector.

Sheikh Saud also presented awards to two former UAE Education Ministers, Ali Abdul Aziz Al Sharhan and Saeed Abdullah Al Salman, for their contributions to the development of the education sector.

As many as 146 persons were presented with the award across nine categories, which included 129 students who were honoured for their excellent performance in the academic as well as co-curricular activities. The other categories included distinguished school principals, administrative staff and outstanding families.

Sheikh Faisal bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAK Financial Department and head of the board of trustees of RAK Award for Creativity and Excellence, thanked all those who had contributed for the development of education in the country. "I hope that the award would encourage all the stakeholders in the education sector to re-dedicate themselves towards achieving excellence in education, which will shape a prosperous future for the country," he added.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Kayed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the board of Ittihad University, Sheikh Mohammed bin Kayed Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman of the RAK Economic Department, other sheikhs, Abdullah Ali Mussabah, Executive Director of the UAE Ministry of Education, heads of Government departments and senior officials were present at the function.
