RTA's rail delegation makes a factory inspection visit to Germany

A delegation of senior officials from the Rail Agency in the Roads and Transport Authority 'RTA', recently made a visit to Germany to inspect the wall cladding material and seats being manufactured for the Dubai Metro project.
The delegation visited a number of factories to inspect and compare the manufacturing techniques used for wall cladding, the quality control procedures involved, material testing, fixing and production methodologies, and panel jointing systems and have chosen one of the international manufacturers located in Dresden as the supplier of the wall cladding material.
This was followed by a trip to Amberg South Dresden where the team visited the seats manufacturer of the Dubai Metro vehicles. The aim of this visit was to inspect the seat samples of the Dubai Metro Rolling Stock and the manufacturing process and the quality control.
Engineer Abdulredha said, "The Dubai Metro is being designed and built to exceed international standards. The seating manufacturer is world leaders in the design and manufacture of both driver seats and passenger seats for a wide range of vehicles both on and off road. They are known to manufacturer seats for cars, trucks, busses and railways, and interior equipment for cars. The seats are designed to incorporate the latest ergonomic feature for operator ease of use and comfort. It is produced to the highest specification of quality, reliability and durability."
"The first shipment of the seats has already been shipped to Japan on Mid of November 2007 post which a set of seats will be shipped every week", he concluded.
