- PRESS RELEASE
The recent exclusive 'An Evening for Africa with Sir Bob Geldof' event sponsored by Air Miles, the Middle East's leading multi-participant loyalty programme, has raised sufficient funds to buy six-acres of land in Sierra Leone.
The majority of the funds were raised through an exhibition of Geldof-autographed paintings drawn by children from the centre. In addition to the funds raised through the event, Air Miles donated Dhs50,000, with all ticket proceeds for the event also going to the charity.
"We were very keen to support 'All As One's objectives and its activities in Sierra Leone through this event," said Dave Battiston, CEO, Rewards Management Middle East Limited (RMMEL), the company that operates Air Miles regionally.
"We are glad the event achieved such a positive response, and were thrilled by how enthusiastically everyone at the event supported our goal of raising funds for this very worthy cause. The night certainly helped increase awareness about the charity's role in Sierra Leone, and has generated funds for essential work to improve these children's' lives."
All proceeds from the event will be used to obtain land to build a new children's village in 'All As One's 'Building A Future' project, which will double the amount of children that the association is taking care of as well as to accommodate a new school, medical clinic/hospital, and eventually a college.
