Under this umbrella, P&G office in Beirut supported Lebanon United to reach Mount Kilimanjaro, in an aim to raise money and develop the educational sector in Lebanon.

P&G's "Live, Learn and Thrive" is initiated through various programs, which focus on child development to ensure they have a healthy start, the proper tools and the adequate environment to enhance their abilities to learn. Therefore, P&G decided to join hands with Lebanon United, which is a London-based volunteer group that raises money and awareness to support development initiatives in Lebanon, to come in aid to Lebanese children through rehabilitating physical conditions of schooling, improving quality of teaching and psychosocial support for pupils.

The mission that took place to raise the money, gathered five Lebanese bankers members of Lebanon United, who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and planted the Lebanese flag at an altitude of nearly 6,000 meters. The team set a record for the first ever financial transaction on the Lebanese Stock Exchange from this height.

The project was supported by UNICEF and conceived and implemented by International Medical Corps UK with the main goal to improve the quality of education in 29 schools in rural Lebanon (Akkar, Hermel, Baalbek regions and different villages in the South).

"P&G is committed to providing sustainable development for the well being of the community in which it operates through being part of activities and initiatives that touch people's lives positively," affirmed Asaad Salhab, P&G regional director.

"This unique project is part of our many activities to help children have a better chance at living and learning properly. And Lebanese children will now benefit from favorable educational conditions, so they can have a better future ahead and enjoy the environment they are living in now and for generations to come", concluded Salhab.

P&G has sustained growth and improved the lives of the world's consumers over the past 170 years. Focusing on education is very important. Millions of children around the world live in heartbreaking conditions. By strengthening our current programs, we believe we can help improve the future of these children and those of the generations to come. P&G contributes to social responsibility both in principle and in action.
