Al Jazeera Children's Channel inaugurates its representative office in Malaysia

Al Jazeera Children's Channel inaugurated its representative office in Cyberjaya - Malaysia, in a move designed to further extend its network and diversify the Channel's TV content programming.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali, Chairman of MDeC, Dato' Badlisham Ghazali, Chief Executive Officer of MDeC, and by Mr. Mahmoud Bouneb, Executive General Manager of Al Jazeera Children's Channel in the presence of many Arab ambassadors and official delegates and key media personnel.

Al Jazeera Children's Channel representative office in Malaysia will work closely with production companies locally and in other major Asia pacific countries, with aim to grow its portfolio and offer world class standard in animation and multimedia content for the Arabic speaking children around the world. The bureau is assigned to coordinate content development initiatives, knowledge & skills exchange, also to introduce JCC to education institutions, civil society organizations, and governmental bodies and pave the way forward for collaboration.

Mahmoud Bouneb, Executive General Manager of Al Jazeera Children's Channel stated:

"We are delighted to officially launch our operation in Malaysia today and be the first Arabic Children TV channel ever to open a representative office in Malaysia. This office came as a result of the MoU signed with MDeC and the many projects we are producing now in this region. Our aim is to bridge between the Muslim kids around the world, as well as offer a supplement to the school curriculum, which includes Arabic language classes every week, by introducing JCC to the children of Malaysia."


During the inauguration event, Al Jazeera Children's Channel Executive General Manager and MDeC's Chief Executive Officer, Dato' Badlisham Ghazali exchanged the recently signed contract where both parties committed to co-produce the multi-million dollars 3D animated television series 'Saladin'.

About Al Jazeera Children's Channel

Al Jazeera Children's Channel (JCC), a Pan Arabic edutainment channel, was launched in 2005. Through its unique concept and a range of own produced educational programmes, JCC opens up avenues for Arab Children to learn about different environments and cultures, as well as encourage them to learn and seek knowledge.

JCC is the first Arabic Children's channel to present a debate show where Arab Children express themselves and communicate their thoughts. Al Jazeera Children's Channel is also the first to produce thematic magazines in Arabic covering different educational subjects: Science, Health, Technology, Sports; as well as competitions and quizzes where fun meets general knowledge.

In the light of its edutainment mission, Al Jazeera Children's Channel presents a range of discover and learn programs many of which are acquired from the international market to provide the children with information about other cultures, environments, and the world they live in.

The Channel also produces its own titles of animation and cartoons TV series at Arab production houses, as well as contributes in international co-productions with other children's channels around the world, who adopts a similar public mission.

Al Jazeera Children's Channel has deployed state-of-the-art studios and facilities, inside its headquarters in the 'Education City', to ensure high quality TV production. JCC produces about 40% of the broadcast programs, and is committed to broadcasting new programmes for 8 of the 20 hours on weekdays and 9 of the 21 hours on weekends.

JCC is a free to air TV channel on Arabsat, Nilesat, and Hotbird reaching all Arab countries and Europe.
