Sama introduces more options to travel between Jeddah and the UAE

Sama announced the launching of new international routes between Jeddah and the UAE (Abu-Dhabi and Sharjah) starting Friday 7th December 2007.

At the Sama graduation ceremony of the 7th class of flight attendants, the announcement was made the event was held in King Fahad International Airport in Dammam, and sponsored by HRH Prince Bander bin Khaled Al-Faisal, Chairman of Sama, and Eng. Khaled Al-Mezeel, GM of King Fahad International Airport, and attended by some of the senior officials from the airport authority and Sama. Furthermore, numerous pilots who have completed 500 flying hours with Sama were promoted to Captain

Prince Bander bin Khaled Al-Faisal, Cairman of Sama said: "It is our honour in Sama to hold this graduation ceremony of a new class of Saudi young workforce in flight attendants. This is a continued commitment from Sama to support the aviation sector in Saudi Arabia, which is made possible by the training, orientation, and employing Saudi youth in this profession, where we aim in Sama to be the favourite choice for Saudi youth wishing to join the airline sector in Saudi Arabia"

Eng. Khaled Al-Mezeel, GM of King Fahad International Airport said: "having held this graduation ceremony for Sama pilots and flight attendants at King Fahad International Airport, is a way of honouring the distinctive partnership between the airport and Sama, and delivered a clear message demonstrating the company's level of commitment to Saudization, nationalization, and orientation of the workforce in the aviation sector. The importance that Sama attribute to King Fahad International Airport is due to the fact that it is the headquarters of Sama operations and to help the continuous improvement in the services provided by Sama which is evident to all, whether in ground services or onboard, and we are confident that Sama contribute greatly to the overall percentage increase in load factor and passengers that fly from KFIA. This is especially due to the introduction of international flights and the increasing popularity of Sama flights and this has reflected positively on their profitability, which in turn leads to further nationalization, orientation, and employment of Saudi youth in the aviation sector. This is what we all strive for and our relationship with Sama is unique, as we witness the genuine effort and striving in order to provide excellent services that are in line with our understanding of simply fly."

The training courses that flight attendants successfully passed included the compulsory criteria required by GACA such as Fire Fighting, Decompression, Turbulence, Planned and Unplanned Emergency, Evacuation Techniques, Ditching, Other Potential Emergencies, Security, Dangerous Goods, Crew Resource Management and Emergency Practical Training. In addition, Sama also introduced required training such as Professional Marketing Training, Appearance Standards Training, On Board Service Practical Training and SAMA Customer Service Training.

Ehab Al-Gary, Chief Administration Office of Sama said: "the graduation ceremony of 7th class is an indication of the level of commitment and Sama known strategy for nationalization and supporting the airline industry in Saudi Arabia, with Saudi well trained, through the mechanism for the training and orientation of Saudi youth. And Sama has trained, oriented and employed over 50 members of flight attendants since the beginning of this year and recruiting even more. We are pleased at the new addition to our crew, thus adding to its manpower and skills, whilst also celebrating the promotion of 3 pilots who have completed 500 hours of flying time with Sama and 4,000 hours of flying time overall, all the while being committed to the regulations of GACA by training in specialized aviation."
