The DDC has been established in partnership with Covansys, a CSC company in India.

The DDC will be an extension of Mercator's existing Dubai-based headquarters, in which more than 1500 staff develop and deliver IT solutions. It will provide capacity over and above the already expanding Dubai operation, boosting Mercator's ability to meet the IT needs of its customers.

Through the new DDC, Mercator will offer IT services and support to ensure operational efficiency and timely delivery of mission critical projects, allowing Mercator increased flexibility and scalability in terms of delivery. The facility is expected to grow rapidly, leading to hundreds of staff working there within three years.

Patrick Naef, Head of Mercator and Divisional Senior Vice President IT, Emirates Group said: "The opening of our DDC facility is a key landmark in our IT sourcing strategy, the goal of which is to satisfy the diverse needs and IT challenges of Emirates and other major airlines around the world. The DDC will provide us with additional capability for developing and delivering innovative IT solutions to our customers and it will further strengthen Mercator's position as a leading IT solutions provider to the aviation industry."

The DDC facility is the first step in a wider multi-sourcing strategy being followed by Mercator. The introduction of further development centre capacity with Covansys and other partners is earmarked for the coming months.

Raj B Vattikuti, Group President, Covansys said: "The Emirates Group is a strategic account for Covansys and we are excited to be a part of their aggressive growth plans."

Mercator's smart and cost effective solutions in passenger experience, air cargo management, finance and revenue accounting are used by over 100 airlines and airports around the world. Customers include Emirates Airline, British Airways, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, South African Airways and Swiss International Airlines.
