Orange sponsored the annual charity event of Operation Smile in Jordan to celebrate the program's twenty-fifth anniversary since it was established in the USA.

With the attendance of HRH Princess Alia Al Faisal and Vice President JTG, CEO of Orange Personal Majd Shweikeh.

Operation Smile is an international medical campaign that included 1700 volunteers of physicians and nurses who treated nearly 5000 children in 25 countries worldwide of which Jordan had the biggest share. Indeed, more than 450 children were medically checked at Jamil Totanji Public Hospital in Sahab while 95 children from Jordan, Iraq and Palestine underwent 156 surgeries between 7 and 9 of November.

Orange sponsorship came in appreciation of the great efforts of the Honorary President of the program Her Majesty Queen Rania Al- Abdullah, who calls to draw smiles on the faces of children with facial deformities. Orange also believes that children are an essential element of humanity development.

The program goes beyond conducting surgical operations to provide training to physicians and students of different specializations such as those specialized in mouth, jaw, anesthesiology, or pediatric surgeries. Operation Smile draws these potential persons from around the world and sends them to the United States where they receive an annual training program to improve their medical skills.

The event included speeches delivered by several Jordanian physicians who talked about correctable facial deformities' surgeries such as cleft lip, cleft palate, burns and tumors. The event also was interspersed with documentary presentations on the importance of such surgeries that change many children's lives.

Orange and through its fund, which was established in 2001, was and will always be keen on supporting and sponsoring the society's institutions and their distinctive activities especially those of humanitarian nature. Orange's commitment towards contributing to the country's sustainable development is something the company has pledged to uphold.
