Assureon was also awarded runner-up in the 'Compliance Product of the Year' category. The award coincided with Nexsan's participation at Storage Expo UK, the only dedicated data storage event in the UK that provides visitors with the opportunity to compare the most comprehensive range of data storage solutions from all the leading suppliers, where it showcased its industry leading AutoMAID™ energy efficient storage solutions.

The DM Awards were organized by BTC Publications and provide industry-wide recognition to individuals and organisations at the forefront of technology and innovation in the Document and Content Management industry. With awards for software and hardware products, as well as for successful projects in the public and private sectors, the DM Awards managed to cover all the bases and thus attract luminaries from right across the industry. Winners - which included leading companies like Microsoft, EMC, ITESOFT, DICOM and Nexsan - were chosen by the readership of Document Manager Magazine.

Assureon's secure storage is based on a de-duplication (single-instance) content-addressed storage (CAS) model, ensuring that only a single copy of a data object is stored in the system dramatically reducing capacity demands, bandwidth requirements and substantially cutting customer costs. Compared to other CAS-based products that require backup or replicated data to be restored to a primary system, Assureon provides individual file or complete directory Point-in-Time rollbacks to deliver immediate real-time data reacquisition in full file format. This makes it ideal for disaster prevention, disk-to-disk backup and recovery, legislative compliance and long-term archiving applications. The system is designed to have no pre-determined limit to the theoretical capacity and installations of many petabytes are possible with the standard architecture.

Commenting on the award, Jamal H. Maraqa, Managing Director, PRO TECHnology, distributors for Nexsan in the region, said:

'The award is testament to Nexsan's commitment towards providing the highest quality storage solutions, that not only deliver maximum value to clients, but also contribute to environmental protection by being extremely energy-efficient. Our partnership with Nexsan has been extremely fruitful to date and we look forward to introducing into the region the award-winning solutions pioneered by Nexsan.'

AutoMAID is a next generation energy efficient storage solution designed from the ground up to provide superior storage performance and the industry's highest energy efficiency. Nexsan solutions with AutoMAID technology allow the company's extreme-density storage systems to power down disk drives to an idle state to conserve energy yet provide near-instantaneous access to data. Nexsan products with AutoMAID have built-in next generation energy efficient technology at no extra charge. For a petabyte of disk storage, Nexsan solutions can reduce energy requirements by 25X - 6KW versus 187KW and this power saving is achieved without sacrificing storage performance.
