Wafik will lead a team of 10 people and be responsible for Syria. He has about seventeen years of experience within the travel industry, holding a variety of post with Syrian Air including Tariffs Manager in the International Affairs Division in Commercial Directory, Regional Manager in Greece and Cyprus and most recently Manager of Tourism Promotion for the air line. He has also been the NDC Head for Syria in 1999 for two years.

Coinciding with the new appointment is an increase in training within Galileo's Syrian department. In September Galileo trained over 100 IATA agents and the GDS is set to provide training for more agents in the coming months. Two five-day courses were held in November, each consisting of seven agents.

Rabih Saab commented, "We are delighted that, Mr Waifik has now been appointed the new Galileo NDC head by Syrian Arab Airline in Syria. With the growth of the GDS in Syria and the continued investment in focusing on our customers, this is a very exciting time as the business develops and we look forward to working closely with him to continue this growth and expansion."
