Van Cleef & Arpels: At one with art, at one with Paris
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, December 05 - 2007 at 12:59
- PRESS RELEASE
The famous French jewellery house, Van Cleef & Arpels, showed its ongoing support for the world of culture and art by sponsoring the Canvas VIP Lounge at the artparis exhibition, held for the first time in Abu Dhabi from 26-29 November 2007.
Created in 1999, artparis is a French-originated international fair dedicated to modern and contemporary art which usually takes place in the heart of Paris, under the elegant glass roof of the Grand Palais, a prestigious cultural location. Within just a few years, artparis has become a largely popular meeting point of the international art scene.
For the exhibition's UAE premiere, a VIP Lounge was hosted by Canvas Magazine and selected high end sponsors such as Van Cleef & Arpels, who welcomed guests into a cozy atmosphere on the beautiful beachfront terrace of the Emirates Palace Hotel. Attendees were treated to a display of Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry.
Stephane de Palmas, Director of Van Cleef & Arpels in the Middle East, was thrilled to be involved in such a successful French-themed event, and stated, "Our brand represents the passion for beauty, and we are very happy to show this passion through our support to others that value art. The founders of Van Cleef & Arpels were adamant that their flare for the arts would never fade within the organization. The House has always been inspired by art and the artparis Abu Dhabi exhibition was a perfect setting to showcase our pieces amongst the works of like minded professionals."
As an example, because dance is the art of harmony and grace, it is a major source of inspiration for Van Cleef & Arpels. The House brought the renowned 'Jewels' ballet to the Royal Opera House in London, for 8 shows in the months of November and December this year. Choreographed by George Balanchine, the House played an active role in the creation of the ballet dedicated to three precious stones: the emerald with Fauré, the ruby with Stravinski and the diamond with Tchaikovski.
