CGC, Saudi Airlines sign contract for TETRA radio sets

Consolidated Gulf Co. (CGC), the largest Telecom and IT solution provider in Qatar, has signed a contract with Saudi Arabian Airlines to provide TETRA radio sets for better emergency communications.

TETRA radio sets are very effective in aviation industry for smooth group communications and to increase efficiency, connectivity and coordination between airline staff, especially during emergency.

Mahajan further stated that CGC in association with Qtel introduced TETRA technology in the country. 'It's CGC who first implemented in Qatar way back in 2003 a TETRA-based Remote Shut-down System using hand-held Terminals. Taking initiative, we supplied the infrastructure, in association with Rohde & Schwarz, to Qtel to launch a nationwide TETRA services in the year 2005. Since then, the demand for TETRA services has increased many-fold. While Qtel takes care of all the service related issues, CGC provides others infrastructures like HW supplies, including base stations, hand-held mobile terminals, intrinsically safe devices and specialized solutions. With the help of a fully trained and well equipped TETRA team, we today serve over 80 companies/customers taking full care of their requirements and after-sales support. We would be launching soon new technologies like AVLS, Telemetry over TETRA and Video over TETRA to name a few', he disclosed.

TETRA radio sets are vital for oil and gas industry, security services, hospitals and other emergency services, construction, transport management, shopping malls among others, as they offer safe, secure and faster group connectivity.
