Prof. Schwab welcomed the co-operation and support DW has given to the WEF and said that strong ties between the two commanding world economic entities will ensure mutual benefits.

The WEF chief was on a pre-convention tour of the region, prior to the summit in Davos, Switzerland, in January. He met with Mr. Farid Mohamed Ahmed, Secretary General of Dubai World and other senior officials. He stressed the need for increasing DW's participation and interaction in the Forum's activities.

Mr. Farid said: 'The World Economic Forum is the meeting ground for the movers and shakers of global economy, as well as senior political leaders and intellectuals. Dubai World, as one of the strategic members of the Forum, is aware of what this meeting of minds can generate in terms of new ideas and concepts. As an active contributor to this think-tank, Dubai World is also becoming part of this movement.'

'Dubai has grown to become an example for comprehensive economic growth. It is a matter of pride that we can present ourselves as a winning concept in world forums. Dubai World will continue active participation in such international forums such as the WEF so as to gain and provide ideas,' he said.

Schwab's visit to the region included a tour of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait where he held talks with officials there and discussed the current economic situation and the scope of cooperation between the forum and the major players in the economic field.
