Jafza honours companies for excellence and distinguished performance at 2nd Annual Awards

As part of its corporate strategy of re-energizing customer service and recognizing customers for Jafza-related initiatives and achievements, Jafza held a special ceremony on December 4, 2007 to award a group of distinguished companies headquartered in Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza).

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Jamal Majid bin Thaniah, Executive Vice Chairman, DP World and Group CEO, Port and Free Zone World, Mrs. Salma Hareb, CEO Jafza and Economic Zones World as well as senior officials of Jafza, and a large group of businessmen and managers of various companies based in Jafza.

The aim of the awards is to further strengthen Jafza's position as a customer-centric organization, and extend recognition to its customers for their valuable contribution in Jafza's enormous success and growth over the years.

Commenting on the Awards, Mr. Bin Thaniah said: 'Jafza has proved in more than one way that it is part of Dubai's strategy aiming at building a business community that is based on mutual trust between the public and private sectors, to reach the economic goals and contribute towards reinforcing Dubai's status as a global investment hub, which attracts prestigious companies.'

Salma Hareb, CEO, Jafza and Economic Zones World, said on the occasion: 'The annual Jafza Awards is our one more endeavour to honour Jafza companies for their valuable contribution in our ever growing stature in various fields, such as commerce, environment and technology. This growing stature gives Jafza an ever-increasing edge in managing and supervising distinguished business communities in the local, regional and international arenas.'

Jafza Annual Awards are divided into two main groups. The first group, Achievement Awards, is dedicated to customers with notable accomplishments related to Jafza, while the second, Token of Appreciation, is given as a 'Thank you' for a specific gesture, contribution or loyalty.

The winning companies received awards and trophies in recognition of their performance and excellence. Achievement Awards went to: Procter & Gamble Gulf for the best work environment; Sony Gulf for the best import/export enterprise; Wurth Gulf for being the fastest expanding company; International Leaf Tobacco for maintaining spectacular outdoor landscaping; Lamprell for the best e-service user. Master Foods, Naffcco and Gulf Foods were presented Achievement Award for winning coveted 2006 MRM Award in manufacturing category.

Token of Appreciation awards went to: Cleveland Bridge for being the company with the longest standing; Dubai Petroleum for being the first industrial company in Jafza; Emirates General Petroleum for being the first trading company.

HSBC Bank Middle East was presented Token of Appreciation in recognition of their being the first financial institution to operate from Jafza.

Idro International Trading, GAC Logistics Park, National Trading & Development Establishment, McDermott Dubai, Universal Concrete Products Limited, Gulf Imports & Exports, Transitrex Research & Development Corporation, Hunter Foods Limited and Black & Decker were presented Token of Appreciation for being the first companies to become part of Jafza when it was formed in 1985. Mobis Middle East was given a Token of Appreciation for being the most diligent company.

Special recognition awards were also given to Nestle Middle East, Naffcco and International Food Resources for their outstanding corporate social responsibility.
