Al Jazeera Children's Channel wins Gold Awards at the 13th Cairo Arab Media Festival

'Qal Al Rawi', a Ramadan special program on Al Jazeera Children's Channel, won the 'Best Children TV Program' Gold award at the 13th Cairo Arab Media Festival.

In another category, the "Creativity Prize" for "Best Director" came for JCC's drama TV series "Gala Gala".

On behalf of Al Jazeera Children's Channel, Mr. Khaled Adennoun, Director of Programs & Production received the gold prize at the closing ceremony attended by a number of high profile figures in the fields of arts, media, and entertainment.

Neim al-Baz, Head of Children's programs Jury said that "Qal Al Rawi" is a dream come true program that she always wished to see realized and broadcast on one of the Arab TV channels. "The program features every factor of success in content, set-up, picture, direction, and the extensive performance and strong presence of the story teller. During the screening, the program firmly grabbed the attention of the jury, proving to be a successful show for children" Baz said.

"All the candidates' programs were screened with extensive in-depth evaluation by a team of Arab media experts from around the region, resulting of a Gold Award for Qal Al Rawi," she added.

"Qal Al Rawi achieved a tremendous amount of viewer ship during the holy month of Ramadan. With its rich content and format the program truly personalized our ultimate objective at JCC, to reach our viewers' heart and mind. The content of "Qal Al Rawi" comes from the Arab and universal cultures, thus it touched every Arab children in the world", said Khaled Adennoun. "We are honored to receive this prestigious award", he added.

"Qal al Rawi", performed by "Nimr Salamoun", harks the main spirit of Ramadan tradition in story telling, bringing with it a number of dedicated children of different age groups and a series of legendary Arabic stories. The plot also brings with it a magnificent oriental stage portraying an Arab dazzling culture and decoration.

"Gala Gala" inspires critical thinking in children between the ages of 8 and 15. The program introduces biological, physical and chemical facts through experimentation. The concept behind Gala Gala is to stimulate creativity and enhance self-reliance within young viewers; through a series of challenges faced by the two main characters of the series "Ageeba" and "Fayez".
