- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, December 09 - 2007 at 14:56
- PRESS RELEASE
Abu Dhabi international Airport (ADIA) will begin its Hajj service starting from early Tuesday morning with three flights leaving to Al Madinah Al Monawarah.
"All the necessary arrangements have been made to ensure seamless flow of pilgrims," said Mohammed Al Katheeri, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC).
"Terminal1A has been dedicated for the exclusive service of pilgrims, and a full-fledged plan involving all agencies operating at the Airport has been put to action to ensure a smooth flow of pilgrims to the holy shrines and back home."
In a gesture reflecting the traditional Arabian hospitality, pilgrims will be invited into a tent installed at the terminal entrance where complimentary drinks will be served.
Hajj contractors have been provided with 5,000 copies of brochures containing guidelines on the recent security measures adopted at the Airport, which limit the amount of liquids, aerosols, and gels carried as part of handheld baggage. "This will give pilgrims ample time to get acquainted and comply with the new rules well ahead of departure," Al Katheeri added.
Religious advisors will be at hand round the clock to provide guidance to the pilgrims before proceeding to the holy shrines. Complimentary brochures will be distributed to pilgrims as well.
Upon return, pilgrims will be accorded a special treatment. They will be invited to a special tent installed in Terminal 1 where complimentary drinks will be served. Also, a special point will be allocated for pick up of their Zamzam water.
Al Katheeri reiterated ADAC's commitment to providing superb service to all passengers commensurate with Abu Dhabi International Airport's image as one of the most passenger-friendly airports in the world.
A multi-functional team representing all the agencies operating at the Airport has been busy carving out plans to ensure a smooth flow of pilgrims to the holy shrines.
A total of 44 flights will be operated between Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia. Mohammed Al Katheeri, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) said Terminal 1A had been devoted for the exclusive service of pilgrims.
