Higher Colleges of Technology signs MOU with AIESEC on the Abu Dhabi Women's College Campus

  • United Arab Emirates: Monday, November 26 - 2007 at 10:56
  • PRESS RELEASE

The Higher Colleges of Technology signed an MOU with AIESEC, the world's largest student-run organization, on Monday, 26th November 2007, on the campus of HCT's Abu Dhabi Women's College.

AIESEC is an international student platform, present in over 1100 universities worldwide and encompassing over 23,000 members. The organization helps young people to discover and develop their potential and provides over 4,000 international internship opportunities each year. HCT entered into the MOU with AIESEC in order to increase the number of global opportunities for all HCT students.

The AIESEC office is located on the ADWC campus and will enable the most proactive HCT students to develop leadership skills and gain practical experience through international opportunities. The organization encourages students to have a proactive attitude and nurtures their self-awareness through goal-setting. Global interactions allow students to challenge perceptions of the world, build networks of support, and develop skills and knowledge to increase their capacity to have a positive impact on society.

"On behalf of AIESEC UAE, I'm honored to be signing such an important agreement between our two organizations," said Stella Grancheva, President of the UAE branch of AIESEC.

"AIESEC's partnership with HCT is a major milestone in our quest for youth leadership development in the UAE. Both HCT and AIESEC are striving to have a positive impact in the local society, thus empowering young people to have a proactive approach to life. I am extremely glad to see how HCT students have benefited from AIESEC's global internship and leadership programmes and I am excited about the upcoming cooperation between our two organizations."

Earlier this year, ADWC students Iman Mohamed Ibrahim and Shareena Al Muwaijaei received their international work placement assignments through AIESEC's Qiyada Programme which gives UAE National students an opportunity to work abroad. The students' experiences with AIESEC helped them to understand their own capabilities, gave them a sense of self-motivation, and increased their self-esteem.

"AIESEC is a truly first-rate organization," noted Dr. Brad Cook, Director of ADWC. "HCT students will greatly benefit from the international work placements, leadership training, and personal development workshops offered by the organization. We are very proud to partner with them and we look forward to a lasting relationship."
