- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, December 11 - 2007 at 11:01
- PRESS RELEASE
President of Arab Council for Training Students of Arab Universities congratulates President of AUST on the University's 20th anniversary and praises its training experience.
"Your achievements outspeak for you", he said as praising the efforts AUST has invested in training its students through the best use of existing facilities, such as laboratories and studios. He was also impressed by the initiative of the University to devolve the responsibility of running its TV Channel "AFAQ" and the University Magazine to students as well as by the Student Council which coordinates student clubs' activities.
In his speech, delivered by the Vice President for External Relations and Cultural Affairs, H.E. Dr. Saeed Abdullah Salman stressed that training is one of the principal standards the university is adopting in order to provide a distinguished environment for students; one that offer all necessary elements where a student can at once act as a researcher, trainee, practitioner, and above all as an innovator.
"To this end, AUST set up centers and units like the Continuing Education Center and the Research, Information and Training Council which train students and alumni, and develop the employees' skills.
Dr. Alkaraki welcomed the invitation of H.E. Dr. Saeed Abdulllah Salman, and expressed the willingness of the University of Jordan and other affiliated Universities to conclude agreements concerning student training exchange programs.
"Now is the ideal time for such an enterprise given the great openness of Arab Universities" he said. He added "I do not believe that the Arab world will be able to gather strength outside universities. These are the prime actors of civilizational edification".
ACTSAU has continuously held its proceedings since it was established in 1992 being an affiliated body to the Union of Arab Universities seated in the University of Jordan and chaired by Dr. Adli Albelbisi.
The Council has the membership of Universities from UAE, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Sudan, and Morocco and aims at encouraging its members to offer training opportunities to students through an annual meeting to exchange available internships in various disciplines.
This is held alongside an annual student conference on one of the scientific or social specialties. The Council also aims at setting up national committees to train students according to the local context and the educational environment.
