Twenty schools from across the UAE participated in the contest, with top honours going to Al Ghazali School for Best Editing, Abdallah bin Zubair School for Best Story, Khaled bin Mohammad School for Best Directing, and 2nd of December School for Best Effect. The awards were presented at a gala awards ceremony held at the Ministry of Education premises in Dubai.

Meanwhile, Panasonic has also announced that it has started receiving entries for the 2007-2008 edition of the KWN contest, which has two themes - ecology and communication. Schools who wish to participate in the contest are required to send in their entries before mid February 2008. The KWN contest is held in around 23 countries, the winning videos from each country will be judged in the KWN Global Contest and awards will be presented in mid-June to coincide with the end of the school year for the majority of participating countries. Tokyo, Japan will host the KWN Global Contest awards in 2008, and first prize winners could win a trip to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

"The quality of submissions we received for the last KWN contest was truly outstanding, which highlights the fact that there is no dearth of creativity and skill among UAE's students. For next year's contest too we expect to receive several high quality entries from schools across the country, and we hope students make the most of Panasonic's state-of-the-art video production equipment while capturing and editing their video content,"
said Sajjad Faleel, Panasonic Marketing Middle East.

Panasonic lends video production equipment to the schools participating in the KWN contest, which is structured to develop students' self confidence, creativity, communication skills and teamwork through the use of digital video technology. More than 100,000 children around the world have participated in the KWN program since it first began in the U.S. in 1988. In 2004, an international category was created in the contest for the first time, taking the competition global.
