The deal will allow Zain to benefit from Tejari's services enabling the telecom operator to reduce its procurement costs and streamline buying processes.

Present at the signing ceremony in Amman were Zain's CEO Saad Nasir, Tejari's CEO Omar Hijazi as well as regional representatives from both companies.

Zain's CEO Saad Nasir said that the agreement with Tejari is in line with the company's commitment towards investing in the most sophisticated technology and maximizing the effectiveness of the company's operating activities by minimizing its administrative tasks, allowing the company to focus on the strategic activities. Nasir added that utilizing the services of Tejari's leading eMarketplace will enable Zain to obtain competitive prices and improve its market reach both regionally and globally.

Through the technology, Zain will be able to provide a facilitated process of buying and selling goods and services online, taking advantage of supplier sourcing which includes real time access to local, regional, and global suppliers. Tejari membership will also enable Zain to proactively garner new suppliers and aggregate its buying practices.

Tejari's e-Procurement platform works to enhance competitive standing while extending market reach. Corporate and government buyers and sellers take advantage of Tejari's transactional online B2B services to trade goods and services through electonic bidding, contract and spot purchases, matchmaking, and auctions. Buyers typically realize savings of over 15% on the cost of goods and services, while spend can be better monitored and controlled.

"The telecommunications sector is one of the most competitive industries in the Middle East, and through its new membership on Tejari's eMarketplace, Zain has taken a leadership role to adopt global best practices in procurement and become a more streamlined and cost-effective organization,"

said Omar Hijazi, CEO, Tejari.

Tejari has been operating in Jordan for five years now and according to Hijazi, "We have been able to successfully inform and demonstrate firsthand to key decision makers in Jordan just how easy and beneficial the online marketplace is to use."

"Now that more business leaders in Jordan understand just how rapidly they can benefit from e-procurement, we expect membership levels to rise accordingly. Jordan has tremendous potential for online procurement, given its thriving business community, extensive government focus on technology, telecommunications and impressive Internet penetration levels. Therefore, we are confident that Zain will thrive as a key new member of Tejari's eMarketplace," added Hijazi.

Continuously searching for the most advanced tools which will boost the service level offered to its customers, Zain positions itself as a leader in both the local and regional telecommunications industry. Zain in Jordan is a pillar of the national economy, directly employing over a thousand Jordanians and creating indirect job opportunities for thousands more, in addition to being the choice service provider of more than two million consumers. The company was previously known as Fastlink, part of the MTC Group, prior to its rebranding as Zain.
