The project calls for the sewage treatment plant to use membrane biological reactor (MBR) technology, making it the largest unit of its type announced so far in the world. It will also have 13km of sewer pipes.

Degremont is leading the construction. Besix will be responsible for the sewerage network construction.
Jumeirah Golf Estates will have 900,000 inhabitants and four golf courses. The water plan calls for the complete reuse of all treated effluent in the project.
The sewage treatment plant will be covered and deodorized. Sludge will be dried for potential further use. Degremont will provide the sludge drying equipment.
