NetBeans day is considered the biggest symposium for developers working in open source technology, sponsored by Sun Microsystems Worldwide. Open source often employs Java, one of the most widespread computer languages in the world that originates from Sun, but also supports any other programming language.

Through the conference, the Egyptian developers were able to obtain a strong dose of training that included theoretical and practical elements. The main advantages and tools of the sixth edition of NetBeans were presented in a specialized session held by Mr. Roman Stroble, who works within the Sun Microsystems team to develop solutions and is one of the founders of Java group.

He pointed out that the prototype of Netbeans 6.0 is already out and that the final product will be available in December. It will contain many advantages for different levels of developers of games, mobiles and office solutions, as well as enterprise solutions. He said that these advantages will be easy to implement and will be faster and more dynamic in dealing with other programming languages.

"NetBeans offers its services free of charge and is considered an open community for java tools and developers whether for academic or professional use," Stroble said. "It works on all Java applications which support OS language and also works on all operating systems like Windows, Linux, Mac Ruby and C/C++ programs as well as Solaris for office or home systems."

"There are two main products for NetBeans tools, the first is NetBeans IDE, a program development environment and allowing for developers to use a tool for writing, building, testing and observing errors as well as organizing the system resources and preparing the programs for operation," he added. "The second is NetBeans Platform, which is a measurement system that could be developed and is used as a base for program development."

Deena Habib, Sun Microsystems Regional Marketing Manager for the Middle East and North Africa, also said: "This meeting comes within a series of conferences that Sun Microsystems will hold for developers in three major cities in the Middle East as a start. These cities are Cairo, Dubai and Riyadh. Through the first half of 2008 these training conferences will be repeated as an emphasis from Sun Microsystems on supporting developers' communities that work with its open source tools and programs."

Habib commended the level to which developers have reached in Egypt regarding their ability to grasp information in an efficient manner in addition to their readiness to be creative and to build various applications with NetBeans tools. These abilities will encourage Sun to continue with its policies that rely on the Egyptian market as a main developers' market in the Middle East and North Africa region.
