Nakheel pitches in to clean up the UAE

The "litter pick" took place this morning at Nakheel projects, including International City, Al Furjan, Jumeirah Heights, Jumeirah Park, Jumeirah Village. Collected rubbish was separated into designated bins for recycling or disposal. At The Palm Deira workers from Van Ord, the dredging company working on the project, joined Nakheel employees with the clean-up effort. Nakheel also mobilized divers on sites such as The Palm Jumeirah and Jumeirah Islands to collect litter from waterways and beach waters.

By sponsoring "Clean Up UAE" and participating in ongoing clean-up events we are doing our part to raise awareness of this important issue."

Nakheel's main sponsorship of and participation in "Clean Up UAE", organized by Emirates Environmental Group, comes after its involvement last month in the "Clean Up the World 2007" campaign. Hundreds of volunteers from Nakheel participated in the "Clean Up the World 2007" campaign at two Nakheel sites. At Discovery Gardens, Nakheel and contractor Turner Construction teamed up to organize a two-day clean-up exercise which enlisted the help of thirteen contractors working on the development. The Health Safety and Environmental Protection Department at Waterfront and The Palm Jebel organized a successful beach clean-up for Nakheel employees & families, as well as local students, which included an underwater clean-up by Nakheel divers.
