RTA continues maintenance and upgrading work of road-lighting systems in Dubai

Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) announced that the undergoing maintenance of road-lighting network covers around 47.500 light poles extending across 2.288 km of road networks in the Emirate of Dubai.
Engineer Maitha bin Adai, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Traffic & Roads Agency, said that these works are part of RTA's commitment to maintain road networks in accordance with world-class standards. "Our aim is to maintain safety of road users in the emirate through upgrading lighting network, and stepping-up its readiness & operational condition to the highest technical standards.
"Maintenance Dep't of Traffic & Road Agency is closely monitoring maintenance, renovations & upgrading works of key roads, crossings and bridges in the emirate, including lighting systems. Such works are part of the strategy of the RTA and the ongoing endeavours to keep pace with the urban growth and respond to the requirements of demographic growth and expansion in the emirate. All of this is viewed under the efforts aiming at providing safe & smooth transport for all" Maitha added.
Engineer Nazim Faisal, Acting Director of the Maintenance Department, stated that several projects to renovate light networks have been undertaken by the Lighting Maintenance Section. Lighting renovations have been carried in 3 intersections at Al Khail Road, including installation of 71 lighting poles and 93 new road-lighting units.
"Work has been completed in the numbering of 7.500 lighting poles this year, and according to the plan, renovation of lighting systems in the sector extending from Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road to Rashid Port of Sheikh Rashid Road, including 44 lighting poles and accessories, is planned for completion by the end of this year".
He pointed out that a study has been compiled to this effect with a budget allocation exceeding six million dirham, and it will be put into effect from the beginning of next year. The study aims at upgrading lighting systems in Al Rashidiya, Abu Baker Al Siddique Road, Al Remool Industrial Area, and the road leading to Mushrif Park.
