The first edition of the high-impact networking affair, which was held at the India Club, Dubai on November 28, 2007, witnessed the participation of 150 representatives from various sectors related to the building materials trade in the region. In addition to encouraging more UAE-based companies to join the Group, the event also provided relevant information on the emergence of new products, market challenges and cost issues, which will help both new and established players improve current industry standards in terms of effectiveness in business practices.
Mahendra Patel, Chairman, BMTG, said,
"The establishment of the Building Materials Trading Group has created a positive collaboration among the affiliate companies, which will benefit the development of the building material sector in terms of sufficiently addressing the increasing demands of the property development market. We are immensely pleased with the cooperation, which members have displayed in achieving our common goal of taking the market to even greater heights. Apart from the direct advantages of creating expansive business opportunities, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry will provide numerous benefits to these enterprises as a reward for their significant contributions to the advancement of the industry."
Recognising the need to provide further competitive advantage to Dubai-based building materials suppliers, the DCCI formed the BMTG with an aim to provide more business opportunities by facilitating networking among companies and potential customers. Since its establishment in 2002, the Group has grown to comprise 11 board members and more than 3,000 members, who are committed towards further expanding the construction materials trading industry in the region, which is currently the second largest industry in the Middle East after the oil industry.
"Danube has been a part of some of the most significant property developments, which grace the impressive skyline of Dubai and the rest of the commercial districts in the UAE, " said Rizwan Sajan, Chairman, Danube. "As a leader in the region's building materials market, we are continuously seeking opportunities to expand our reach and establish important partnerships based on the high quality construction materials that we offer. Our participation as the main sponsor at the BMTG Networking Dinner stands as a testament to our commitment towards the total development of the industry, which we hope will inspire more companies to become a part of this very important movement."
