The Public Transport Agency introduces its Mobility Management

The Public Transport Agency of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently introduced the Mobility Management.
Eng Essa Abdul Rahman Al Dawsary, CEO of the Public Transport Agency at the RTA, confirmed that that the purpose of launching such an initiative is focused on meeting the requirements for the improvement and development of the public transport in Dubai by encouraging the public to use public transport and reduce the use of private cars after delivering the appropriate alternatives to achieve this goal.
He urged the companies and establishments operating in Dubai to improve the transport of its employees that would contribute to significantly reducing jams and lower the rate of environmental pollution following the population growth in Dubai thanks to the development in various sectors and fields.
"The plan of the Mobility Management Section is to provide a package of actions that would be applied smoothly and effectively and aim to upgrade the means of public transport. The plan further stresses the need for encouraging the public to reduce the use of private vehicles and heading for the use of public transport, which includes public buses, taxis, cars of the companies and establishments, in addition to developing plans for the organization of the car pooling service, said Al Dawsary.
He added that the Mobility Management Section would initially focus on the process of developing a set of standards to regulate the launch of this Section in Dubai through the exploitation of other alternatives to private cars.
The Public Transport Agency has laid an agreement with 10 companies selected out of 96 companies in Dubai that showed their interest and willingness to engage in this experience so as to assist in the application of the highest global standards in the area of mobility management and the transfer of staffs.
The ten companies chosen are Burjuman Center, the Gulf News Daily, Ministry of Labor, Cargo Village, Baraha Hospital, Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, Standard Chartered Bank, Zayed University, Emirates Airlines, Civil Aviation Department and Emaar Company.
He noted that the introduction of Mobility Management Section at the Public Transport Agency would undoubtedly enhance the strategic initiatives that the RTA had launched since taking over the organization and operation of public transport system in Dubai and inculcates its vision to provide 'Safe and Smooth Transport for all.'
Regarding the roles this Section will play to boost the strategic initiatives of RTA and consolidate its vision, Al Dawsary reaffirmed that it would provide all possible assistance for the application of effective management of mobility to include all segments of society and emphasize lots of options for all public transport.
Through the contribution of organizations to this initiative, a model would be provided to integrate between the land use and the planning process in the modes of transportation, coordination between the long working hours of companies and the provision of sufficient places for parking would indisputably improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the road network.
The Mobility Management Section would help conduct a number of improvements to be delivered to the public and make use of them even with a few numbers of these benefits, which can appear only for a short time. This Section would also appoint a number of "Ambassadors," whose tasks through direct talk with people would be spreading this concept and enhance the level of awareness to use a number of options represented by modes of public transport.
