The move will allow Fort to handle the distribution and sales support of Thuraya's Public Calling Office (PCO) and satellite payphones in all current and future markets covered by the Thuraya system.

The distribution agreement was successfully concluded and signed today. It was signed on behalf of Thuraya by Mr. Sabah Al Kudies, Thuraya's Chief Commercial Officer, and Mr. Hossain Ahmadian, the Managing Director of Fort Technology.

In line with Thuraya's new strategy of appointing exclusive distributors for key products, Fort Info Technology was selected as an exclusive distributor of rural telephony products based on its extensive experience in African and Middle Eastern markets. Fort is already a Thuraya service provider in several markets, with business relations starting between the two companies in 2002. The new distribution agreement will further build the business partnership between Thuraya and Fort.

As part of the agreement, Fort Technology purchased the existing stock of rural telephony products from Thuraya, and will be responsible for distributing these products in all Thuraya markets. The products purchased include 1st and 2nd generation PCOs, Payphones, Transceiver Units and Globe Connect which is a terminal hardware similar to the PCO that is used in rural areas where terrestrial networks have no reach.

Thuraya provides advanced and highly affordable rural telephony solutions, including Public Calling Office (PCOs) and Pay-phones that allow people in villages and rural areas have access to modern telecom services. These products can be purchased by individual investors and entrepreneurs and made available to people and small businesses, thus supporting economic growth and development in rural and remote areas.

"I am confident that this partnership with Fort Technology will boost the rural telephony market of Thuraya. With Fort's regional experience and dedicated support to customers, we will be able to significantly grow the roll-out of Thuraya's competitive rural telephony products in all key markets," said Mr. Sabah Al Kudies, Chief Commercial Officer of Thuraya.
