AUB sets up Atiyah Chair

The American University of Beirut (AUB) has established the Michael Atiyah Chair in Mathematical Sciences in the faculty of arts and sciences. The new position has been funded by a donation of $2m by the Simons Foundation and it is hoped it will attract leading professors and researchers. Sir Michael Atiyah won the Abel Prize in 2004 and was the President of the Royal Society from 1990-95.
