The General Secretarial of the "Damascus - Arab Capital of Culture 2008" Celebration has announced the names of young talents who have won production grants to finance cultural youth projects in various criteria defined by the Celebration, covering: Animation, Cinema, Theatre and Contemporary Dance.
The Celebration launched the "Production Grants for Youth" program in September 2007 as part of its efforts to link culture and sustainable development to the support of youth projects.
The Celebration also plans to continue this program to help young talent produce and promote their creative work by presenting them next year with a focus on the development factor. It also aims through these projects to contribute to increasing cultural investment and cultural employment opportunities.
The Production Grants program received an overwhelming number of registration responses through its website, making the selection of projects eligible for the grants a difficult process for the panel of judges. The panel of judges included group of expertise. The response to the program reinforces the need for a supportive platform from which young talents can launch themselves.
