Under terms of the MoU, this solution will initially be available on Samsung Electronics, cost-effective, high-performance multifunction printer SCX-6345N with Samsung's distributed capture solution, SmarThru Workflow. Users will be able to capture electronic documents from the printer using Samsung's SmarThru Workflow or EMC Captiva image capturing solution, and convert them into various file format including Microsoft Office files. Metadata along with converted electronic documents can also be transferred to the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server with EMC Documentum 6 Content Repository using Open XML technology.
This solution will greatly enhance business productivity among customers of all sizes, while helping them comply with internal controls and government legislation related to information retention and management. This solution will also help organizations avoid purchasing dedicated high-speed scanners and a separate solution for document management. Investing in this combined solution will significantly reduce the initial investment cost and also enhance reliability, and lower costs.
All three parties have also agreed to cooperate in sales and marketing activities to promote this solution to customers. Under the arrangement, Samsung and Microsoft will cooperate for the SMB market, while all three organizations will work together to create new business opportunities in the large enterprise market.
