  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, December 30 - 2007 at 07:51
  • PRESS RELEASE

Global and regional digital leader LG Electronics' Board of Directors announced the appointment of new executives, including three high-level officers, effective January 1st, 2008.

Partial management changes at LG Electronics include appointments of a new CTO, CFO and CPO (new position), one President, six Executive Vice Presidents and 32 Vice Presidents. These appointments signify LGE's efforts to take their business to the next level by becoming a more achievement-oriented organization.

These aggressive moves at LG are most apparent in the appointments of "C-suite" executives, which include Dr. Woo Paik (currently Chief Technology Advisor) as Chief Technology Officer, succeeding Dr. Hee-Gook Lee, who will be transferred to Siltron, an affiliate company, as CEO; Mr. Do Hyun Jung (currently head of Finance Team of LG Corp.) as Chief Finance Officer; and Mr. Thomas K. Linton (currently Vice President and CPO of Freescale Semiconductor) as Chief Procurement Officer, which is a new position at LGE.

Linton will establish a company-wide purchasing strategy and system and redesign processes by adopting advanced practices and reinforcing staffing. He formerly served as the CPO at Agere Systems Inc., and has also worked for E2OPEN LLC and IBM.

LGE earlier appointed Dermot Boden, formerly head of Pfizer Inc.'s Northeast Asia Region, as its Chief Marketing Officer. The company will continue to recruit global top talent, whether Korean or non-Korean.

LGE also appointed Mr. Young Woo Nam as President and CEO, Asia and six new Executive Vice President-level executives, including Mr. Dae Hyun Song as head of LG Electronics Tianjin, China; Mr. Woo Young Kwak as head of Mobile Handset R&D Center; Mr. Jung Jun Lee as head of Mobile Communications New Business Development Team; Mr. Weon Bog Bae as head of Corporate Design Center; and Mr. O Joon Kwon as head of Legal Team, Mr. Sung Ha Cho as head of Mobile Communications Korea Business Division.

Meanwhile, the company reorganized its global structure into eight regional companies: Korea, North America, Central & Southern America (combines currently Brazil and Central & Southern America), Asia (combines currently East & Southern Asia and West & Southern Asia), Europe, CIS, China, and Middle East & Africa.

Commenting on the developments, Mr. K.W. Kim, President of LG Electronics - Middle East and Africa, said: "LGE is determined to enter the New Year by capitalizing on its strong gains of 2007 in all its segments. MEA has contributed significantly to the company's growth and we are confident that in 2008, we will be able to take the brand to many more consumers in the region."

From his end, General Manager of the LGE Amman Branch, Mr. Kevin Cha said, " I congratulate the new executives on their new posts and I am confident that they will be an asset to the organization. With their experience and knowledge I am sure they will guide LGE to further success, and with their presence on our team I am sure that we can only look forward to a good year to come."
