Dubai Media City to exhibit 41 Ibda'a awards short listed entries

Dubai Media City, a member of TECOM Investments, will showcase 41 shortlisted entries of the Ibda'a Media Student Awards 2007 at an exhibition from 25-29 December in the Dubai Media City amphitheatre, displaying innovative media entries from the UAE, Iran, Egypt, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, the UK and Lebanon.

For the first time, the Ibda'a awards will be complemented by a Career Day that will be held alongside on 26 December, from 9.00 pm to 5.00 pm. A Dubai Media City project targeting local media talent, the event will provide on site guidance to students seeking a career in the industry.

Pledging their support for the event, media organisations such as TECOM, Zee Arabia, CNBC, Asiatic, MBC, du, ARN/AMG, ITP, Star TV, ALAN TV, Taj TV, Media Portal, Ziad Galadari Group, Showtime and Dubai International Financial Centre will use the platform of the Career Day to recruit outstanding talent.

Mohamed Al Mulla, Director, Dubai Media City, and Coordinator General of the Ibda'a Awards, said: "As the region's largest media cluster, Dubai Media City is committed in its mission to attract and retain local talent. Through the Ibda'a Awards exhibition, we will spotlight impressive works that reflect extraordinary talent, and deserve to be recognised and nurtured.

"We are overwhelmed with the tremendous support extended by leading media and non-media conglomerates to the inaugural Ibda'a Career Day. This new initiative by Dubai Media City to tap new and young local talent will significantly benefit the media industry."

Organised in association with the International Advertising Association (IAA), the 6th edition of the annual Ibda'a Awards attracted over 2,200 entries from undergraduate and graduate students of the academic year 2006-2007. A panel of 20 eminent judges from IAA will select one winner in each of the 10 categories. Winners of the competition will be honoured at the Ibda'a Awards ceremony on 27 December at the Dubai Media City amphitheatre.

Ibda'a Awards covers 10 categories, including journalism, radio, animation, graphic design, analogue photography, digital photography, print advertising, TV advertising, TV documentary and film/TV feature.
