Dubai School Agency (DSA), the first agency of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai (KHDA) organized the testing in order to provide itself with an internationally credible baseline against which it can measure its strategy in the coming years.

TIMSS is an important educational assessment of student achievement in mathematics and science. It is being conducted under the purview of the KHDA and implemented by the DSA in partnership with the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA).

Fatma Al Marri, CEO of DSA said, "Our sincere thanks to all the participating schools, their principals and teachers for incorporating the TIMSS testing in their respective schools. As a former principal, I know how hard it must have been to incorporate an unscheduled, standardized testing into a regular school day. But these schools made it happen because they cared about DSA's efforts and believed in what TIMSS stood for. We are very grateful for the cooperative attitude of most schools as they reflect the values of collaboration and contribution of the Schools Agency."

Scoring of the TIMSS booklets has begun in earnest as DSA trained scorers converge everyday at the DSA's premises at KHDA's Academic City headquarters to complete the scoring on time. Meanwhile data entry of the scored booklets has also begun with the plans to send the data and reliability booklets to IEA by the end of the month. Individual results for Dubai are expected in February next year with worldwide results are expected in August next year.
