3Com today announced Sustain, a new channel initiative designed to support 3Com resellers supplying Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to public sector customers across the EMEA region.

Sustain aims to help resellers provide public sector customers with 3Com's cost-effective, end-to-end networking solutions and support services by offering them an additional 6% discount on 3Com products sold into the public sector.

"The Sustain program addresses some of the barriers to public sector marketplace entry like price sensitivity," said Hamed Diab, General Manager, 3Com Middle East.

"3Com's open, standards-based secure converged networking solutions lead the market in price/performance, and deliver premium availability, reliability and manageability. They are ideally suited to the needs of public sector organisations such as government and education where there is great pressure to reduce costs and cut spend in all areas. The availability of an additional six percent discount makes 3Com networking solutions even more attractive in a price-competitive marketplace."

The move to converged communications provides organisations substantial business benefits. The Sustain program is designed to help public sector organizations, which are traditionally late adopters of technologies, access the benefits of secure, converged networking via knowledgeable, motivated channel partners.

An added benefit for both customers and channel partners is that 3Com's open approach to networking provides interoperability with other IT vendors' products, and presents the best way to avoid vendor-lock.

"The Sustain program provides resellers with an even greater reason to choose 3Com," Hamed Diab explains. "Sustain is an open program that gives all resellers added incentive and ability to push into the lucrative public sector marketplace. The additional 6% discount is applicable to all 3Com products."
