RTA continues to install AC bus shelters all over Dubai

Eng. Essa Abdul Rahman Al Dossari, CEO of the Public Transport Agency reaffirmed that the Agency had so far completed the installation of 131 AC bus shelters sites in various areas of Dubai, where the work is being executed in full swing, according to the plan drawn for the implementation of this vital project.

Al Dossari said that the RTA had obtained the approval of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) for the installation of electric transformers to provide the AC Shelters with electrical energy required for the operation, as 30 sites have so far been approved work is in progress for the completion of the procedures to obtain the approval for the rest of the sites once the installation is complete.

He added that this step comes within the Bus Master Plan and is considered part of the strategic initiatives of the RTA to provide better services and amenities for commuters, especially in the high temperatures of summer where these stations had been equipped with the best techniques air conditioning that would encourage the public from different social cross-sections and reduce jams caused by the large numbers of private cars, as well as reduce the rate of environmental pollution, which positively affect the public health of the community and contribute to raising its productivity and giving.

Al Dawsary explained that the design of the stations will be inspired by the form of Crescent and will be painted in a modern metallic color, in addition to provide them with advanced air conditioning system, which is the first of its kind in the world, and furnish them with special designs for advertising and information space; it is a technology used for the first time in the UAE and the region, as well as an integrated package of public facilities that include ATMs, vending machines, garbage recycling containers and other facilities.

He pointed out that the main goal of releasing this service is to encourage the public to use public buses through the provision of global innovative and pioneering solutions, which will create an atmosphere of comfort rather than waiting for a bus under the scorching sun in summer. This project represents a significant support and essential foundation for the integration of expanding and modernizing the public transport sector, including the buses, taxis, marine and Dubai Metro once is up and running.

Al Dawsary concluded that the Public Transport Agency is always keen to expand, develop and enhance the mechanism of its work through a package of innovative solutions aiming to provide a superior service to the public of UAE citizens, residents, visitors and tourists to encourage them to use the public transport network, which will undoubtedly develop the traffic flow and diminish rate of accidents on vital roads and streets.
