Acer's year of success culminates in major announcements

Acer, the world's third largest IT vendor, closed a successful 2007 by announcing the acquisition of Gateway at its recently held global distributor meet.

Acer executives used the meet to highlight the importance of strengthening and empowering channel partners while increasing its distribution networks.

"We are embarking on very significant global ventures," said Emanuele Accolla, Vice President, EMEA and Director for META region. "Support from our channel partners is vital if Acer wants to sustain its development. Empowering our partners, is the way forward."

The IT vendor's annual meet held in London was a great success. Senior Acer executives educated channel partners and distributors from across the globe. New products and Acer's strategy for 2008 were key subjects. Outstanding channel partners and distributors were recognised at a unique awards ceremony.

Acer runs a successful channel business model and is dedicated to opening more channels with a view to making its products more widely available.

"Our innovative and far reaching business model has fuelled Acer's phenomenal growth," said Krishna Murthy, General Manager, Acer Computer Middle East. "These annual meets give us a chance to educate our partners which is vital if we are to sustain our continuous expansion." added Murthy.

"Acer had a very successful 2007, and our partners played a major role in achieving that success. We will be looking to ensure a triumphant 2008," added Murthy.
