City 7 TV reporter Anjjelo San Buenaventura has been awarded a certificate from the Environment and Public Health department of Dubai expressing appreciation for him and City 7 TV for their valuable participation in awareness programmes and activities conducted by the office in 2007.
"This award is the perfect platform for our reporters to show off their diligence and commitment to the U.A.E. public," said Ron Kapadia, COO and Executive Director,
City 7 TV. "I congratulate Anjello on his perseverance in covering these stories and deeply thank the Health and Education Department for recognising his efforts in doing the same. I hope he serves as an encouragement and inspiration to the youth who wish to take up journalism as a career."
The department honours people with year-end awards of appreciation and this year Anjello's various stories brought him to the limelight. Some of these included the government's swift action to ban poultry from Saudi Arabia during the bird flu scare, his various stories emphasizing the need for people to have their hearts checked during wellness campaigns and the government's ban on smoking in food establishments, attracted people's attention to his work.
Mr. Kapadia added, "The fact that City 7 TV was the only channel awarded at the ceremony reiterates our commitment to the people of this country to cover all aspects of the U.A.E. society. It just goes to show that local news is best covered by those who understand the region and its people."
As part of his news beat Anjjelo interacted with many health officials who noticed his enthusiasm and perseverance in bringing to light the various issues affecting this country. This award is testament to his determination.
