Salik praised by Dubai's RTA
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, January 02 - 2008 at 07:51
The Salik road toll system in Dubai has helped reduce traffic passing through the toll gates on Garhoud Bridge and Shaikh Zayed Road by 20%, according to Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the emirate's Roads and Transport Authority. Al Tayer said the system has prompted motorists to use alternate routes, thus leading to reduced congestion, and he asserted that the tolls are not for financial gain, saying that the tolls received by Salik are negligible compared to the funds allocated by the RTA for road and traffic improvement in Dubai, reported Gulf News.
