King Abdulaziz University and Xerox Saudi organizes Innovate 07 in Jeddah

Under the patronage of the Scientific Publishing Center of King Abdulaziz University, Xerox Saudi and its industry partners organized the Innovate '07 seminar in Jeddah, which was attended by more than 150 print providers and marketing, creative and design services professionals.

During the event, a number of printing industry experts addressed the attendees, such as Engineer Mamdouh Elsayeh, Marketing Director of Fuji Xerox Japan, Dr. Reda Abozied, Printing Expert & Associate Professor, Mr. Shadi Bakhour, Sales Director of Xerox Saudi, and Mr. Abdul Aziz Al Ghamdi, Chief Executive Officer of Al Sarawat Printing Houses.

Ehab Guindi, General Manager of Xerox Saudi, welcomed the audience and expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Scientific Publishing Center at the University of King Abdulaziz for sponsoring this event, and then spoke about developments in digital printing, saying: "Digital printing is considered one of the features of civilization and technological development in the world in general and the Kingdom in particular, for its economic and practical solutions to the needs of various business sectors. This places a priority on reducing the cost of production and increasing profitability and high quality"

Dr Saadullah Bin Gari, Dean Deanship of Library Affairs and Director of Scientific Publishing Center, spoke of the history of the university and its development and contribution to the development of the Kingdom and the nation as a whole. He assured the audience that one of the criteria for the strength of the nation, in addition to its economical and human resources capabilities, is producing information; gathering it and organizing it.

Dr Bin Kari added: "Throughout our experience at the Scientific Publishing Center in King Abdulaziz University, we have started to realize the importance of digital printing and its multi features in producing information, which allows us to deal with the prospective sectors according to their own requirements. The Center has organized many courses as an initiative to establish the printing academy at King Abdulaziz University.

Engineer Mamdouh Elsayeh, Marketing Director of Fuji Xerox Japan, explained that Xerox invented the digital printing in early 90's, and now there are more than eighty thousand systems for digital publishing and printing installed worldwide. In conclusion, he assured delegates that the digital printing future is color, limited quantities with high speed, internet printing, remote printing, and adding a fifth color. Digital printing also overcomes the problems of page size, quality, speed, cost and investment.

Shadi Bakhour, Sales Director of Xerox Saudi, said during the event that digital printing reduces waste and it provides versioning, according to the reader's interest as in the newspapers and sometimes in advertisements and direct mail, as per the target customer needs.

Xerox also demonstrated during the function iGen3 digital color printing system with a speed of 110 pages per minute. It is the fastest Cut-Sheet color digital printing system in the world. It provides high productivity printing that requires advanced printing features. This system has been specially designed for printing presses, advertising and communications companies, as well as transactional printing required by banks and utility companies.
